TWELVE months ago, Scarborough lost 6-0 at Edgar Street with goalkeeper Andy Woods keeping the scoreline within respectable bounds.

This time around he had nothing to do and Boro won 1-0 for their second Nationwide Conference win on the road this season.

The changes brought about by manager Russ Slade in personnel and performances are indeed remarkable and the manager rose from his sickbed to watch this game from the stands and was cheered if not cured by what he saw.

He said: "These three points have done me more good than all the pills I have been taking this week and it was good to keep another clean sheet and extend our unbeaten run to six games."

David Pounder showed neat control and a firm finish after being put through by a delightful ball from Bimbo Fatokun to score the only goal.

Fatokun is now making telling contributions in every game that he plays and his sinuous turn and control which created the opening showed more than a touch of class.

Another foreign import, Mohammed Sillah started the game in midfield and later moved back into defence to partner Richard Dryden and Mark Hotte - and these three effectively stifled any Hereford revival.

Sillah moved to replace Shaun Rennison who was stretchered off with a cruciate ligament injury, which was the only black spot on an otherwise satisfactory day in cider country.

Meanwhile, chairman Malcolm Reynolds is hoping to make progress with the impasse that seems to be developing with the local authority over the future of the McCain Stadium site, with a major announcement expected this week.

The move to a purpose-built stadium on the outskirts of town is dependent upon a new use being granted for the existing ground and previous history on planning applications for the site will make for delicate discussions on any proposals.
