BUSINESSES across York and North Yorkshire are being urged to get fully switched on to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) through a new campaign being launched tomorrow.

Business Link North and North Yorkshire is unveiling a major series of 60 ICT (information and communication technology) seminars and workshops across the region designed to help businesses use technology to gain a competitive edge.

Tomorrow's introductory workshop, called Getting The Most From ICT, will be at Business Link's Arabesque House headquarters at Huntington.

The seminars and workshops will provide practical, hands-on advice and guidance on all aspects of ICT, with special emphasis on the six key topics of website development, email, increasing website traffic, trading online, e-marketing and Internet research.

As part of the campaign Business Link York and North Yorkshire has also expanded its team of specialist ICT advisers, who are on hand to give technology tips.

Helen West, Business Link York and North Yorkshire chief executive, said: "The campaign is designed to provide start-up and small businesses with practical help to improve their current ICT systems and set up new ones."

To book a place on one of the seminars or workshops, call the Business Link York and North Yorkshire information centre on 01904 686000. Tickets for all of the events cost £15.
