A YORK school has created a lasting memory to a popular secretary who died last year.
Nellie Woodhouse was a pupil at Park Grove School and went on to become the school secretary during the 1970's.
After her death her family decided to donate money to the school which was used to set up a maths award to be given to pupils in Year Two and Year Six.
The school head, Andrew Calverley, said they had decided on a maths award as Nellie was such a stickler for accuracy, particularly when it came to getting the dinner money figures right.
Names of pupils who win the prize will be put on a board which is dedicated to Nellie.
York's Director of Education and Leisure, Patrick Scott, attended the launch of the new award at the school yesterday.
