A NORTH Yorkshire accident blackspot claimed another life when a motorist was killed in a collision with a lorry.
The man, who has not yet been identified, died instantly in the crash on the eastbound carriageway of the A64 at Barton Hill, six miles west of Malton.
The man was driving a dark blue Vauxhall Vectra saloon which was in the accident with a red Volvo FL10 rigid motor lorry at about 2.20pm yesterday.
The driver of the lorry was treated for shock.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "Initial inquiries indicate that the motor lorry was travelling east towards Malton and the Vauxhall had emerged on the A64 from the unclassified Castle Howard road." Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the accident or who saw either of the two vehicles before the collision.
Witnesses should contact Traffic Constable Steve Wood on 01723 509555.
Barton Hill has been the scene of a number of fatal and serious accidents.
Less than three weeks ago it was the scene of a four-vehicle pile-up. Luckily no one was hurt in the accident, which involved three cars and a mini-bus just south of Barton Hill.
In August this year two mums and four children had a lucky escape after another four-car pile-up near Barton Hill.
