SINCE 1974 York council has closed 60 or so roads to through-traffic, used humps to slow down vehicles which in turn creates tailbacks and congestion when it never existed giving us all the false impression that we have a terrible traffic problem when, in fact, one does not exist.

It's the same deception and false impression we get from all the councils in all our major towns which are advised by the Government to create congestion.

Take away all the road humps and open up all the closed roads - end of problem. But the council comes up with the lame excuse that they have stopped accidents. This is a fabrication.

We do have a lot more vehicles on our roads, but we also have less space for these to use.

It isn't in any council's interest to do away with congestion, it is more beneficial to create it. This then gives the public a false impression that we have congestion, it then gives a council the excuse to say we are going to levy a toll.

This is a stealth tax.
