YOUR report 'York police get cash boost to fight crime' (October 2) is a step in the right direction.
Let's hope it's spent wisely; consultation with residents would be a good start.
I hope some of the money will be spent on a freephone number, which I requested some time ago.
The call handling service leaves people reporting an incident hanging on the end of the phone for quite some time and adds to one's phone bill.
