A penalty goal five minutes from time by Ray Adamson saw Selby take the Yorkshire One points against bottom club North Ribblesdale with a 9-8 win.
All of Selby's points came from the boot of Adamson, and they were no doubt thankful for his late winner against a side who have yet to win in the league this season.
North Ribblesdale, though, scored the game's only try and had John Hughes converted it the final result could have been different.
Hughes also missed three penalty attempts, his sole success with the boot coming just after half-time to give his side an 8-6 lead.
Adamson had booted Selby in front after 15 minutes before North centre Mark Driver touched down.
Adamson regained the lead for Selby on the half-hour, with the next score being Hughes' 44th-minute penalty, soon followed by North's Lister Brown being stretchered off with a leg injury.
Hughes had the chance to extend North's lead before Adamson, who had also missed a first-half penalty attempt, won the match.
