A YORK teenager has won through to the quarter-finals of the Channel 4 TV show Countdown.
Former Millthorpe School pupil Julian Fell, aged 18, has achieved eight consecutive wins on the show hosted by Richard Whiteley.
Julian, from Quaker Gardens, Woodthorpe, is studying French, maths, German and law at York College, and is hoping to study law at university.
He said: "I was very pleased to get all eight conundrums. I did do a bit of practice beforehand, but I was surprised that I have done so well."
He will go back to the studios on November 11 for the quarter-finals.
