YORK and District Leeper Hare League premier division champions Pocklington showed their class at Bishopthorpe as they grinded out a 3-0 win.

Winning the toss, Pocklington chose to attack with the wind at their backs in the first half but were unable to really test Scott Clapham in the Bishopthorpe goal.

The home sided defended resolutely with Greg FitzMaurice troubling the Pocklington defenders with some skilful running.

Immediately after the break, Fitzmaurice missed a half chance when the Pocklington defenders failed to clear and then Scott Silburn saved an Ian Kettlewell shot.

The visitors took the lead when Clapham beat out an Owen Ellis shot but the ball fell to Brent Terry 15 yards out and he hammered the ball home.

Pocklington's midfield took control but it was ten minutes from time before they made sure of the points when Neil Durkin fired home from 10 yards after Terry had laid the ball back to him. Five minutes later Baz Gargett made it three from close range.

Phil Jones returned to the Rufforth line-up after injury and bagged the only goal of the first half as they entertained Wigginton Grasshoppers.

Paul Moss came off the bench midway through the second half to put Rufforth 2-0 up and Jimmy Collins netted twice in the closing stages to wrap up the win before Grasshoppers pulled a goa lback with three minutes remaining.

Graham MacDonald set up Paul Downes to volley home five minutes before the break as Huntington entertained Crayke but the visitors managed to get back on level terms with a penalty early in the second half and the game finished 1-1.

Dunnington took the points at Riccall with a 3-1 win. Andy Leach bagged the Riccall goal but the visitors were already three up at that stage thanks to Andy Rose, Rob Hart and Simon Wood.

Wigginton Black Horse head division one after a 2-1 win at T&L Selby, Chris McFree grabbing the points with a last minute penalty.

The sides were level at the break with a John Carter goal for T&L matched by a Jason Evans strike.

Thorpe United also netted a last minute penalty at St John's College as they salvaged a point from a game they looked like winning.

Craig Anderson had given them a two goal lead but the students fought back to take the lead and it needed the Adam Garner penalty to save Thorpe's blushes.

Fulford United were also leading 2-0 at half time against Civil Service through Ben Bailey and Lee McCardle but Service took over the second half and goals from Rob Evans and Neil Hunter brought them level and Mark Finch hit the winner five minutes from time.

Copmanthorpe moved up the table into third place with a 3-0 win at New Earswick. Haxby Town had a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Norwich Union with first half goals from James Siddall, Dave Cruddas and Jeremy Hansboro.

LNER Builders and Hamilton Panthers served up an entertaining division two game with Panthers winning 4-2.

James Brown gave them the lead after ten minutes and on the hour James Toase doubled their advantage. Andy Green pulled one back for Builders from the penalty spot. Toase then scored again and Gavin Pickard made it 4-1.

Panthers were well on top but missed a penalty and hit Builders' bar three times before Green netted another penalty.

James Barratt took only two minutes to score for Poppleton at Stillington. Chris Manson equalised for the home side before Barratt scored his second in the 80th minute but there was still time for John Anderson to score a deserved equaliser from the penalty spot.

Chris Seager, John Dutton and Roy Heslewood each scored for Norton United in the last 20 minutes of their division three 3-0 victory against Sheriff Hutton.

Rawcliffe Ranger Darren Heels 'goal was cancelled out for visitors Hemingbrough by Mark Livsey and soon after Billy Grundy netted what proved to be Hemingbrough's winner.

Marton cum Grafton were also winning 1-0 at half time but Moor Lane hit three in the second half through Charlie Goodwin, James Preston and Andrew Kenyon to take the points.

Derrick Smith struck a winner for Strensall against York RI five minutes from time to add to two earlier Mick Pipe goals.

Amotherby struck five without reply at Wheldrake to move up into second place. Wilberfoss hold top spot following a 5-1 home win over Heworth. Jonathan Parkin struck twice in the first half and the lead was increased by an own goal and one each from Mark Hughes and Richard Ramshaw before Matty Coop managed a consolation effort from the penalty spot.
