POLICE have warned householders to be on their guard after eight burglaries were reported over the weekend.
Burglars stole a DVD player, four DVDs, a gold signet ring engraved with the initials JS, two sovereign rings and a bracelet from a house in Holyrood Drive, Rawcliffe, after forcing entry.
Credit cards and other items were stolen from a home in Sawyers Crescent, Copmanthorpe, after thieves entered the property by forcing rear windows and doors.
A stereo and speakers was taken from a house in The Groves, York, after thieves entered through a living-room window. Intruders were scared off after forcing the front door of a house in Millfield Lane, Tang Hall, when the owner's dog began barking. Two young men were seen breaking into a house in Slessor Road, Acomb. One of the men is described as of large build and wearing a luminous green jacket. Burglars also broke into a property in Tadcaster Road last night by forcing a rear window.
