THE proposal to scrap professional players from the York and District Senior Cricket League was defeated last night.

The proposed rule change had been put forward by Pocklington CC, but at the league's annual meeting at York St John's College, the motion was defeated by 32 votes to 20.

However, despite the vote going against the ban, the league will look at the issue in the forthcoming year.

The league will hold a series of four roadshows over the course of approximately ten days, starting on December 6.

The open forum sessions will be held at Selby, Driffield, Easingwold and Acomb with matters such as overseas players and paid players set to be discussed and the league committee listening to the views of the clubs.
