THE York College Women's Football Academy team have swept in to the national finals of the British Colleges Five-A-Side Championship to be played at Loughborough in January.
The first intake of the academy won the their regional heat at Barnsley by drawing 4-4 with the hosts and beating Shipley 7-1, Franklin 8-1, Grimsby 9-2 and Dewsbury 12-0.
The York squad, who combine football with their studies, was Nicky Copeland (captain), Kelly Chesterton, Michelle Morgan, Kate Jackson, Louise Ross, Jenna Strain and Deborah Slater
Coach Danielle Baker said: "We have enrolled 12 girls on to the course and they are very committed. Winning the regional five- a-side heat has inspired them."
