Margaret Musgrove (nee Pipes), who has died in a London hospital, was a member of a well-known York family.
Born at Heworth, she was for many years a telephonist at the LNER headquarters in York, and during the Second World War served with the Women's Auxiliary Air Force at Heslington Hall, York, then HQ of 4 Group, RAF Bomber Command.
Her husband, Donald, also from York, was a member of the British Transport Police in the city and they moved to London when he was promoted to inspector.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Sarah, who is a teacher in London, and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Robert. She also leaves two sisters in York.
The funeral service will be held at St Oswald's Church, Fulford, York, at 2pm, on Thursday, November 7, followed by interment at York Cemetery.
