IT IS Guy Fawkes Night once again, and here is our guide to some of the events that are taking place in York and North Yorkshire over the next few days.

TOMORROW

7pm: Bonfire, New Earswick Sports and Social Club, White Rose Avenue, New Earwick. Fairground, bonfire and licensed bar. Adults £2, children £1.

SATURDAY

Bonfire and fireworks party, The Snooty Fox, East Heslerton. Sherburn Brass Band, fancy dress and Hallowe'en disco.

6pm: Osgoldcross & Elmet Rotary Club tenth Annual South Milford Bonfire firework display, High Street, South Milford. Fireworks from 7.30pm (approximately). Hot punch, candy floss, barbecues, homemade pie and peas, toffee apples and more. Advance tickets £3, on gate £5, under-four's free, online booking: www.southmilford.co.uk. 6pm: Hutton-le-Hole bonfire and fireworks, The Green, Hutton-le-Hole.

6pm-8pm: Bilbrough bonfire and fireworks. Fireworks at 7pm. Hot food (includes sausages, burgers and soup). Parking in village, go down Moor Lane towards Catterton, it's on the right. Presented by Bilbrough Village Hall Management Committee. Adults £2, children £1.

6.15pm: Westow bonfire and fireworks display, Church Lane, Westow. Entry is free, but donations are invited to Westow Playing Fields Association. Traditional hot food, parking in the village at the top of Church Lane.

6.15pm: Leavening bonfire event, Leavening Brow picnic area. Bonfire lit at 6.15pm, fireworks at 6.30pm. Mulled wine and food.

6.30pm: Bonfire and fireworks, The Marcia, Bishopthorpe. Fireworks from 7pm (approximately). Barbecue etc. Adults £1, children 50p.

6.30pm: Heslington Church bonfire, in fields beside the church. Bonfire lit at 6.30pm, fireworks at 7pm. Usual bonfire food. Adults £1.50, children £1 children. Please do not bring materials for burning until the morning of the event.

6.45pm: Bonfire and fireworks, Helmsley Sports and Social Club. Bonfire lit at 6.45pm, fireworks at 7pm. Tombola, soup, hot dogs and more. Adults £2, children £1.

SUNDAY

5.30pm: Acklam and Bugthorpe Guy Fawkes Night, High Sleights Farm, Acklam. Supper starts at 5.30pm, followed by the fireworks. Admission by ticket only: family ticket £10, adults £5. Proceeds are for the Bugthorpe under-fives. Tel: 01653 658406 or 01759 368321.

MONDAY

6.30pm: Hovingham Bonfire Night, The Malt Shovel, Hovingham. Tombola and raffle.

Adults £2, children £1 (includes supper).

TUESDAY

5.30pm: Bonfire and fireworks, Malton and Norton Rotary Club, Brooklyn Field, Langton Road, Norton. Refreshments from 5pm, bonfire lit at 7pm, fireworks at 7.30pm. Adults £4, children (school-age) £2.

6pm: Bonfire and fireworks display, Acorn ARL Sports and Social Club, Thanet Road, York. Refreshments, free parking, qualified first-aiders and stewards and family disco.

6pm: Wombleton bonfire and fireworks celebration, Wombleton Sports and Recreation Field. Bonfire lit at 6pm, food from 6pm to 6.40pm, fireworks at 6.45pm. Adults £2, children £1.

6pm: Burniston bonfire, behind the village hall, Burniston. Bonfire lit at 6.30pm, fireworks at 7pm. Hot refreshments. Adults £1.50, children 50p.

6.30pm: Bonfire, fireworks and food, Roebuck Inn, Appleton Roebuck.

6.30pm: Bonfire Night, The Derwent Arms, Osbaldwick, York. Bonfire lit at 6.30pm, fireworks at 7.30pm. Toffee apples, burgers, hot dogs and more.

6.45pm: Cayton parish bonfire and fireworks, McCain Sports Club, Osgodby Lane. Organisers request that cars are not brought if at all possible, parking fee £1.

7pm: Ebor Inn, Bishopthorpe. Bonfire and fireworks display, food, tombola and raffle. Adults £1, children 50p.
