DELAYS are likely when the main traffic signals at one of York's busiest junctions are switched off tomorrow for improvement works.
The signals at Walmgate Bar will be switched off at 9am and the junction will operate under a four-way temporary traffic signal control, during the work by City of York Council. The works should be completed by 4pm tomorrow, but the council has warned that it was likely that there would be some additional delays as a result and drivers should consider taking alternative routes.
The work is to enable the fitting of "rotating tactile cones". These devices are fitted beneath the pedestrian push buttons to enable blind and partially-sighted pedestrians use the junction in safety.
