A MAN accused of raping a woman at her home in York is due to appear at crown court next week.

Damien Robertson, aged 20, of Acomb Road, York, is accused of raping the woman on Wednesday.

He appeared before magistrates in York yesterday and his case was transferred to York Crown Court, where he is set to appear on Friday.

Robertson, who works as a York hotel supervisor, appeared in custody, but was granted bail with conditions.

He must live at his grandmother's house in Luton and not enter York, except for pre-arranged appointments to see his solicitor or to attend court.

He cannot contact or interfere with the complainant or attempt to contact or interfere with any prosecution witnesses.

He was allowed to stay at his parents' house in York the night before he appears at the crown court, but must observe a curfew.
