DUNCOMBE Park still lead the RJF Homes Beckett Football League first division after a 2-1 home win against Sinnington on Saturday.

Shane Wilson scored for Park in the first half and Steve Garbutt increased the lead early in the second half, and that proved crucial as Sinnington stormed back.

Rob Atkinson netted, but the Sinners, missing a natural finisher, failed to take any of their other chances and returned home pointless. Men of the match for Sinnington were Paul and Dan Harland.

Second-placed Black Swan, Pickering switched their game to Aislaby United's pitch due to waterlogging and they took an immediate liking to their new surroundings as Chris Hill chipped Aislaby 'keeper Colin Frank after just 45 seconds and Paul Mann's superb free-kick against his former club saw Steve Sailes head the second on two minutes.

Then on 14 minutes, Andrew Laidlaw shot low into the corner for his first goal in senior football.

Aislaby came back on 34 minutes through seasoned campaigner Kian Brewster's unstoppable 25-yard free-kick, and that was the end of the scoring.

Rosedale returned to winning ways by beating Old Malton 3rds 3-1 in a sporting game.

Rosedale made the early running, taking the lead after 35 minutes through Kenny Weatherel, but excellent work by Carl Sawdon set up George Cooper for the equaliser.

Rosedale came back to win with late goals by Richard Wilkinson and Matthew Farrow, a first in senior football for the 16-year-old.

The Kirkdale United v Kirkbymoorside Reserves game was postponed, as was the second division clash between Black Bull, Thirsk and Ryedale SC Reserves.

A waterlogged pitch saw Pickering Royal Oak give up home advantage to Heslerton in the Gordon Harrison Memorial Trophy second round - and they promptly suffered their first defeat of the season.

Royal Oak started the game well with Damon Cox and Adam Hornby going close before Heslerton took the lead via Curtis Drummond.

Royal Oak levelled on the half hour when substitute Dave Jenkins netted with a great 30-yard free-kick but Heslerton regained the lead through Danny Cass and in the second half Ashley Cook scored a fine goal to make it 3-1.

The second division match of the day saw Ampleforth return to the top by beating fourth-placed Thornton-le-Dale 2-1.

Match-winner Kevin Wright scored a first-half brace after Geoff Quilter had headed the visitors into the lead on the half-hour mark.

Bagby and Balk enjoyed their first league win of the season, 6-2 at home to Slingsby. Goals were scored by Graham Merritt, Adrian Porter, Paul Fountain, James Whittaker, John Eland and Anthony Hewson. Darren Dyer and Richard Chilton replied in the first half.
