POCKLINGTON School won the North Schoolgirls' Hockey Association Under-18 North semi-final.

The squad of 14 girls ranging in age from 14 to 17 years, now go on to play in the North final on December 14.

The girls' run of success started against four other local teams when they captured the East Riding title.

Then, as representatives of the East Riding they triumphed 2-1 against both Hymers (Hull) and John Leggot (Scunthorpe) before toppling Franklin College (Grimsby) 6-0 to win the Humberside crown and tackle a host of other teams for the northern title at Leeds Metropolitan University.

Four consecutive games of 13 minutes each way with only a ten-minute break between matches tested the girls' fitness, skill, strength, and pace.

But the Pocklington ranks prevailed to win the crown, drawing 1-1 against Bradford (representing West Yorkshire); sharing a goal-less draw with Kings Morpeth (Northumberland); routing North Yorkshire representatives Richmond 5-1; and then downing Durham 2-1.
