NO land for some affordable homes? Of course there is and it could be at the right price.
As a local businessman in York for more than 40 years, I am aware as well as everyone that everything is negotiable.
If the powers-that-be spent more of their resources and time looking at land available to them - obvious first choices are in the Green Belt - this would contribute to solving the present land crisis.
I own a few acres in an excellent access situation on Murton Way, Osbaldwick, close to the city, Hull Road Park & Ride and A64 bypass.
As Coun Dave Merrett described in an Evening Press feature, "he suggested we need to change our perception about Green Belt. Most people think of it as attractive countryside, but some Green Belt includes featureless landscape" (February 6).
As an older person and businessman I feel very strongly, and sorry, for those people trying to make a start and get on the first rung of the property ladder.
If only those in a position of power would talk to the local landowners andcommunities then the outcome could be a win-win situation for everyone involved.
