Laughing Gas Comedy promotes its second show at Oak House, Pocklington, tonight.

North Eastern comedy promoter and master of ceremonies Neil Magee launched the monthly Pocklington comedy night last month when Comedy Store regular Anvil Springstien took centre stage.

The headline spot tonight is filled by Patrick Monahan, a Teesside comic now based in London, who was brought up in Tehran by an Irish father and Iranian mother.

"Patrick uses this unique background as the backdrop to some fine material, joking that, yes indeed, he did spend most family holidays in...Customs," said Mr Magee. "He's a good improviser, and during an hour-long set, he'll invite Pocklington to join him for a Stars In Their Eyes tribute and demonstrate his love of Postman Pat by re-creating that famous episode number 32 when Postman Pat had a car chase with Steve McQueen in a milk float."

The main support act is Steve Williams, an anecdotal, satirical, Welshman who appears on the London comedy circuit. Matthew Reed, a finalist in the 2002 Daily Telegraph Comedy Awards, and compere Magee complete the 8pm line-up in the Oak House studio bar. Admission is £5.
