THE funeral of John Bayne, a former newspaper manager, will take place at 11am on Wednesday at St Helen's Church, Wheldrake, near York.
Mr Bayne, ex-general manager and director of the Barnsley Chronicle, died aged 79, leaving a widow, Lola, and two sons.
Before joining the Chronicle, Mr Bayne worked for the Daily Mirror and later the Daily Express in Manchester as its chief circulation executive.
