A FIXTURE build-up forced Pock-lington to play four West Riding Ladies' Premier League fixtures in eight days - yet they won them all.

And they only dropped two sets in total, one each against Leeds Ladies and Huddersfield University, while white-washing Bradford Uni and Leeds Met.

Pocklington have now played half of the 14 league fixtures, with the York defeat being their only loss.

In the last home match of the year, Pock beat Huddersfield 25-7 25-17 23-25 25-15, dominating the first set and scoring 16 consecutive points off serves by Victoria Eaton.

The students improved and took the third set after both sides had made changes but more Pock changes redressed the balance, with Claire Trodden, Eaton and Sue Fallowfield impressing.

Pock had previously beaten Leeds Metropolitan University in straight sets and Leeds Ladies 22-25 24-17 26-16 25-23 in two days, the latter being their best display of the season.

Pock struggled to give accurate digs in the first set but a new combination improved things and they took the match after a cracking fourth set which saw Pock score seven straight points to win it from 23-18 down, Pam Beadman, Fallowfield and Eaton shining.

In their earlier match, Pock had been handed the first set against Bradford as the visitors were late, and this allowed Pock to relax to win 26-16 26-24.

The spiking and blocking of Eaton and Lesley Gamble dominated the second set and, although Bradford took advantage of some changes in a scrappy third, Pock held their nerve.
