A FATHER and son involved in an accident on the A64 have been released from hospital.

John Hunter-Lindsay, 57, from Laneham Close, Doncaster, suffered severe bruising and his 22-year-old son, Neil, suffered a broken collar bone in the accident near Malton on Boxing Day.

The men were travelling near Crambeck in a Rover 400 when it was in collision with a Volvo 340 at about 9.25pm.

A 24-year-old woman, thought to be from Liverpool, died and a nine-year-old girl, from West Yorkshire, was left fighting for her life.

The two other adults in the Volvo were injured.

Police are urging witnesses to contact them, and particularly want information about a the driver of a Land Rover seen in the area before the accident.

Meanwhile, police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was injured when her car was pushed under a lorry by another car, on the roundabout of the A1237 at its junction with the A59 at Poppleton, at about 7.20am on December 23.

A Peugeot 106 was in the right-hand lane waiting to turn towards Harrogate when another car, believed to be a dark VW Golf, ran into the rear of it pushing it under the side of the lorry. The vehicle then drove off towards Harrogate.

The Peugeot was extensively damaged and the driver, a woman in her 20s, was injured.
