FLOOD warnings were in place today for footpaths along the River Ouse, in York city centre, following heavy rain.
The Environment Agency also issued a flood warning on the Ouse at Naburn Lock.
The alert means homes, businesses and main roads are in imminent danger of flooding and residents should act quickly to protect their property.
Meanwhile, householders in parts of Kent and Sussex were today hoping for some relief from the threat of flooding, following forecasts that the next 24 hours should be mainly dry.
