A YORK artist has sold a piece of work to a buyer at the other side of the world thanks to a new website.
Reuban Mayne, who set up the site called art4uz.com, has made his first sale to a buyer in Singapore.
He said: "Of course I'm delighted to have got off to such a great start with the website. You hope for the best in terms of commercial success, but it was a great surprise to have this inquiry from the other side of the world."
The website was developed by Reuban and created by York company Dreamscape Internet.
It also helps bring art into schools as part of the City of York Council's Artist in School programme. Through the website an artist has worked in schools helping to develop the artistic talent of youngsters.
Reuban said: "It is part of our mission at art4uz.com to make York a world centre for visual arts and a key part of this drive is to work with the children of York to develop their appreciation, understanding and artistic skills."
