YORK City Knights player-coach Paul Broadbent has declared the search for more players goes on as he looks to boost his squad further.

The former Great Britain prop wants the Knights to sign two more players before the season gets too old, but insists they will not rush into anything and would prefer to wait for the right man.

"We have to make sure we've got the right signing," he said. "We've got to put our money on the right players rather than just get the numbers up to the figure we want."

The Knights have 21 players signed up at present, but Broadbent has always wanted to have a squad of 23 at his disposal. However, the club has always stressed it is working within a set budget.

"We're looking for a couple more players but we don't want to jump in with both feet and sign someone who isn't the right man for the job - and then find out that somebody who fits the bill has become available only for us to no longer have the money in the budget,"

"It's always nice to keep something in reserve so that if somebody was to come along we can go out there and get them.

"I would like another two players but we don't want to just get any two. We have to check the players have the right attributes."
