YORK Central Library is a fantastic resource. Where else can you access books, CDs, computer programmes, videos, the Internet, a large local history collection and the vast experience of the librarians, all for nothing or next to nothing?
Yet too few people are taking advantage. That is why a library caf is such a good idea.
Borders revolutionised book retailing by installing cafs where customers could enjoy a drink while they read. Something similar at the library will encourage more people to come in. That is reason enough to move the sheet music section.
The caf is sure to be a success. Perhaps then the art gallery will follow suit.
