SESSIONS 'A' have a six-point lead in division one of the Focus Fireplaces York and District Table Tennis League after they beat Nestl Rowntree 10-0.

Second-placed Bootham CC 'A' beat Strensall 'A' 7-3. Steve Cooper and Paul Eastwood were both unbeaten for Bootham.

German player Marcus Seidel won all three of his matches for York University but York RI ran out 6-4 winners.

Twelve-year-old Stephen Robinson became one of the youngest players ever to play in division one when he turned out for York RI 'B' against York RI 'C'.

The match ended all square at 5-5, and although Robinson did not win a game he performed well.

Groves Associates 'B' are well clear in division two. They beat their 'C' team 8-2 with Chris Abbott winning all three for the 'B' team.

Second-placed Strensall 'B' defeated bottom team Northern Electric, 9-1 with Ed Wardman and Bob Young each winning three.

Bootham CC 'B''s Richard Ingleyby was unbeaten as his side edged out Nestl Rowntree 'B' 6-4.

York RI 'D' drew 5-5 with Sessions 'B' thanks to three wins by John Elliott, who was also a three times winner along with Graham Hood in the 7-3 victory over BT 'B'.

Poppleton 'C' won their relegation battle with BT 'A' 8-2 with three wins from Jack Kyprian and Chris Armstrong being a key factor.

Bootham CC 'C' are well clear in division three after beating Shepherds 'B' 6-4. Steve Milner and Gareth Bryning won two each for Bootham and Steve Webster and Jim Logan two each for Shepherds.

Poppleton 'D's match with Shepherds 'A' was just as close but Richard Collier's three wins tipped the scales in favour of Poppleton in the 6-4 victory.

John Foxton and Eddie Prest were unbeaten as Coneysthorpe 'B' had an 8-2 win over York RI 'E'. Cliff Edens won all three for Police over Norwich Union 'A' and Peter Taylor won all three for Strensall 'D' over Strensall 'C' in a 5-5 draw.

Division four leaders Nestl Rowntree 'C' easily beat bottom team Poppleton 'E' and then had a 9-1 win over Sessions 'C'.

Third-placed Shepherds 'C' are still in a challenging position after defeating Norwich Union 'B' 8-2 with Alan Milner and Teresa Melling each winning three.

York RI 'H' lost ground when they were held 5-5 by Shepherds 'D'. Richard Leafe was unbeaten for RI. York RI 'G' and York RI 'J' also drew 5-5. James Parker and Richard Leafe won two each for the 'G' team and Jason Parker and Gareth Stott two each for the 'J' team.
