MARCIA'S title hopes suffered a minor setback when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Ainsty, writes Garry Carter.

Ian Kettlewell had given them the lead in the first half but Ainsty found their stride in the second period and after Jack Midgeley had put them level they were unlucky not to take all three points when Fletcher missed by inches in the closing stages.

A Robertson penalty and a Kitson strike in the second half earned Severus SC a 2-0 win over Pack of Cards.

In the bottom of the table clash, Acomb SC swapped places with New Earswick after beating them 3-1.

James Tose gave Acomb the lead midway through the first period but then gifted them an equaliser with an own goal just before the break. Acomb restored their lead with a goal from Paul King midway through the second half and Carl Kidds wrapped up the points with a simple tap-in after good work from Adrian White.

Division two leaders Thorpe Utd gained sweet revenge for last week's defeat by Magnet when they beat them 3-1 thanks to goals from Garner, Singleton and Emmett, Jack Wilson netting for Magnet.

Chris Harkin hit a hat-trick as Selby Olympia overwhelmed Carlton 8-3, Brian Hagyard netting twice for the visitors.

In the only division three game Samson dented Bishopthorpe's title hopes when they came from a goal behind to win 4-1, Harper scoring twice.

In division four, Wilberfoss took a 1-0 lead at Burnholme but the home side ran out worthy winners in the end. Thornton (2), Massey and Thomas were the scorers in a 4-1 win.

A brace of goals from Joe Smart helped St Clements WMC to victory by the same scoreline against Old Grey Mare.

Heslington Hotspurs continued their good form with a 3-1 win over Bootham Tavern in division five. Watkinson scoring twice.

Reay hit a hat-trick as Hambleton shared eight goals with The Plough for whom Mick Nelson scored two. Howells got the only goal as Northern Wall beat Wanderers.

Craig Anderson and Jordan Linley both scored twice as Selby Olympia Reserves consolidated their position at the top of division six with a 5-0 win at Gipsy Moth.

In the Mecca Trophy third round, Wigginton GH beat Kings Arms 5-0. Alcock (2), Roberts and Fannon scored to add to an own goal.
