YOUNGSTERS from Barlby High School have proved every penny counts in the York City Supporters' Trust fund-raising drive.
A whip-round of loose change and spare coppers by kids at the Selby school raised £262 for the Trust, who are trying to save the cash-strapped club from extinction.
The collection was organised by Barlby's head of drama, Susan Saddler, who is a keen York City fan.
Thanks to the efforts of the children from Barlby and other benefactors the Trust has received more than £225,000 in donations and pledges towards its fundraising target of £500,000.
A 'Save City Account' has been established for individuals and businesses to make their donations.
Donations can be made by cash, cheque, postal order or standing order - payable to 'Munby & Scott -Save City Account' (Royal Bank of Scotland - Sort Code 16-34-80; Account number 10144317) - send to the Trust, c/o Bootham Crescent, York.
