I AM writing about the man behind the microphone at Huntington Stadium during Sunday's Powergen Challenge Cup match against the Doncaster Dragons.

He kept coming out with moronic and inane comments. He would regularly come over the microphone with comments like 'come on get behind the Knights' or similar, usually either just after the opposition had scored a try or just before they were about to kick a conversion. It was hardly surprising the York crowd were quiet at that point.

At half-time we were treated to 110 decibels of so-called music. I have nothing against a bit of half-time entertainment such as the Angels of the Knights but the volume of the music was way over the top.

People like to talk at half-time but you simply couldn't do this for the noise. People have paid their money primarily to watch a game of rugby.

In the second half the microphone man gave a Doncaster score to a Knights player, Alex Godfrey, and constantly got substitution announcements wrong.

The club has just got a lot of fans back but if this person keeps rambling on he will end up driving the fans away or up the wall. Please ditch him now.

I was delighted to read your article on the internet regarding the Knight's first game.

I first watched a York Rugby League game at Clarence Street in 1950 and was a keen supporter until 1967 when I and my family emigrated to Australia.

I have continued to be a passionate fan of this code. I am a member of Melbourne Storm, which has a large expat following.

I wish the Knights, the administration and the supporters huge success in their endeavours to give the city of York a team it deserves.
