Heworth Under-16s were overwhelmed by a clinical first-half performance from Stanley Rangers, and lost 40-6.

The visitors' fast, open style saw them build up a 30-point half-time advantage against an out-of-sorts home team.

The second half opened superbly for Heworth as Liam Watling got the ball out of the tackle to Chris Varley who made ground before feeding Marcus Allan through a gap to wrong-foot the full-back and speed home from 30 metres, Sean Coulson goaling.

Heworth worked harder in this half and, despite conceding twice more, restored some pride.

Man of the match winger Dean Smith made three try-saving tackles as an exciting game saw New Earswick U15s beat league leaders Lock Lane 12-8.

Danny Allan, who had kicked New Earwick's only points in the first half, scored their first try after the break and added the conversion, and after the scores were then tied at 8-8, the winning try came from Paul Thompson, with All Blacks' defence holding firm therefore despite intense pressure.

New Earswick All Blacks U13s continued their good form with an 18-14 win at Smawthorne.

All Blacks took the lead with a fine individual try from Alex Redhead, before Smawthorne hit back to go 8-4 up. All Blacks battled back through forwards Joe Davis, Daniel Atkinson and Jack Sinclair, and half-backs Jack Wrenn and Sean McArthur to take a 10-8 half-time lead following a John Taal try and John Patrick goal.

All Blacks' scoring was completed by Taal and the impressive Elliot Bridges.

Ever-improving York Acorn U12s did well against Half Acres before losing out.

Louie Johnson finished a fine move to give Acorn an early lead and although Half Acres came back strongly, the Blue and Golds did not let them run away with the game.

Hooker David Magson scored a length-of-the-field try, with Taz Fernandez and Magson, with his second, also scoring.

New Earswick All Blacks U8s lost to a good Feather-stone Lions. Sam Halmshaw was All Blacks' most improved player, Jacob Mayled was top tackler and Sam Gell was man of the match.
