GALLANT York Rugby Union Club Under-10s triumphed by one try to nil against a bigger Doncaster side to capture the Yorkshire Cup.

Due to heavy rain the day before, the Goole RUFC pitch was particularly heavy, which led to a forward-dominated game.

But what York lacked in size they more than made up for in speed and aggression around the rucks and mauls.

A simple try from Jack Maud, following a scrum five yards from the Doncaster line halfway through the first half, decided the encounter.

Apart from the last few minutes before the break, Doncaster never really threatened due to York's outstanding tackling.

The nerves of the York spectators should have been settled well before the final whistle but excellent Doncaster defending denied Daniel Harrison and Maud again.

After having come close last season, the team spirit could not deny them in a competition where only one try has been conceded in eight games.
