ALL Saints Under-12s netball side rounded off the season unbeaten by lifting the York and District title.

A 3-2 victory over hosts and old rivals Joseph Rowntree in the third match proved decisive.

The All Saints squad of Ashleigh Glew, Kirstie Anderson, Sophie Evans, Grace McCormick (capt), Ranui Harmer, Natalie Khan, Alex Kilbride also defeated Bootham 17-0, Millthorpe 12-0, Huntington 14-1, The Mount 5-2, Oaklands 6-2, Queen Margarets 7-2 and Fulford 11-1.

Joseph Rowntree's squad of Amy Williams (capt), Jenna Howlett, Annabel Roberts, Jennifer Welsh, Claire Montgomery, Rachel McPherson, Chloe Shipley finished runners-up. They beat Bootham 15-0, Millthorpe 6-1, Oaklands 7-1, Fulford 4-1, The Mount 5-3, Huntington 12-1, Queen Margaret's 7-2 and lost to All Saints 3-2.

The roles were reversed in the 'B' tournament with Jo Ro, the only school to field three teams in the tournament, finishing top of the six-team competition with All Saints runners-up.

They beat Queen Margaret's 4-2, Millthorpe 5-3, Joseph Rowntree 'C' 10-0, v Huntington 'B' 7-0 and All Saints 5-4.

Joseph Rowntree 'B': Vicky Jarvis (capt), Rebecca Rowe, Jenny Astbury, Laura Williams, Danielle Ineson, Stephanie Gadsby, Samantha Gadsby.

Runners-up All Saints beat Joseph Rowntree 'C' 7-0, Huntington 10-1, Queen Margaret's 4-2, but lost 2-0 to Millthorpe and 5-3 to Joseph Rowntree 'B'.

All Saints squad: Alex Kew, Amy Ibbotson, Charlotte King, Hannah Wintie (capt), Amy Yokney, Georgie Walton, Fatima Hussein, Eleanor Sargeant, Joanna Lawton and Leah McKeown.

UNDER-13s and U15s teams from All Saints and Joseph Rowntree took part in the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Tournament at Wolfreton School, Hull.

The Joseph Rowntree U13s made a good start by beating Dinnington 5-2 and St Aidan's 5-4 but, missing two of their regular players, lost 9-2 to overall winners, Prince Henry's School, Otley and 7-2 to Harrogate GS.

Jo Ro then went on to beat York rivals All Saints 4-2. All Saints, who finished fourth, were also beaten 7-1 by Prince Henry's and 7-2 by Harrogate. They defeated Dinnington 11-1 and St Aidens 9-3.

All Saints U13: Gemma Palmer, Tory Palliser, Stephanie Gould, Amy Hargreaves (capt), Becky Belgrave, Hannah Kenworthy, Harriet Puckering and Hannah Hume.

The Jo Ro U15s started by beating Parkside 11-7, but lost 8-5 to Harrogate's Ashville College and were held to a draw by South Hunsley which later cost them a place in the semi-finals. Jo Ro finished by beating St Aidan's 7-0 and Dinnington 14-0.

All Saints U15s beat Abbey Grange 5-3 in their section but lost 9-2 to Bradford GS, Sheffield High 12-1, Hornsea 6-3 and Harrogate 8-5.

Joseph Rowntree U15s: Helen Jamieson (capt), Edith Brown, Rosie Wright, Katie Aldous, Jenna Grant, Kathryn Ward, Melanie Ward, Steff Lauff.

All Saints U15s: Laura Briggs, Joanna Feasby, Laura Hall, Sherri Leldrum, Fiona Addison, Leanee Linsell-Fraser, Georgina Collinge (capt), Caitlin Pearson.

YORK U16s won the Inter-County Tournament after a tense afternoon of netball. They beat Scarborough & Ryedale 16-15 then lost 15-10 to Harrogate & Craven but bounced back to beat Hambleton Richmond 21-16 with accurate shooting from Lucy Gould and Gabby Barr a feature.

With Scarborough & Ryedale drawing with Harrogate & Craven, York, whose Katie Caffrey was named players' player of the tournament, finished as overall winners.

York U16s: Stephanie Lauff, Katie Caffrey, Heather Rogers, Helen Jamieson (all Joseph Rowntree), Lucy Gould, Georgina Collinge (both All Saints), Natalie Whaite, Lucy Shaw (both Millthorpe), Gabby Barr, Natasha Barr, Ann Jacobs (all Queen Margaret's).

York U14s finished third. They opened with a 5-5 draw with Hambleton but were then beaten 15-7 by eventual tournament winners, Scarborough before drawing 7-7 with Harrogate. Faith O'Gegin (Mount) was York's top player.

The York U19s lost all their games, going down 21-20 to Hambleton & Richmond, 17-14 to Scarborough & Ryedale and 15-7 to Harrogate & Craven. Their player of the tournament was Laura Jervis.

PRIMARY Schools in York were in the thick of the action on Saturday as they took part in the annual Netball Rally.

Dozens of players took part at three venues in Acomb.

Winners of the various groups were: Large Schools - Hempland, Intermediate Schools - Bishopthorpe, Small Schools - St Wilfrid's, Mini Schools - St Aelred's and Micro Schools - Appleton Roebuck & Ebor (tied).

Bishopthorpe won all their games, beating Poppleton Ousebank 5-0, Haxby Road 3-1, Poppleton Road 4-0, Dringhouses 8-1, Ralph Butterfield 3-0, Fulford 5-0, Wigginton 9-0.

FOOTBALL

YORK Boys U11s continued their winning ways with a 2-0 home victory over East Riding.

Goals were scored by Tom Corner and Gary Chapman.

Corner turned an East Riding defender inside the penalty area before calmly slotting York in to the lead.

Corner also provided the pass for Chapman to tap in the second goal.

Joe Fox was excellent in midfield, linking up well with Jamie Hopcutt on the right.

The U11s' next match is at home against Wakefield on Saturday, March 29, and players are to meet at 9.45am, at the Railway Institute ground, New Lane. Please bring £2 subs.

Schools in the York area have now begun to play off outstanding league matches in an effort to complete their fixtures by the deadlines.

The Primary schools' season has been extended to Friday, May 2.

Primary Cup semi-finals: Clifton Without or English Martyrs v Robert Wilkinson, Knavesmire or Barlby Bridge v St Wilfrid's/ or Hempland. The semi-finals and final are expected to be in May.

The second round matches in the various Secondary cup competitions were due to be completed by last Saturday, March 22.
