BETTER late than never, former Quireboys rasping vocalist Spike Gray plays Fibbers, York, on Easter Monday.

"We'll probably never know the real tale behind the collapse of last December's proposed small club tour but here at least is the main man complete with kick-ass band and performing Quireboys material," says Fibbers manager Tim Hornsby.

"If you already have a ticket from the previous (cancelled) show, your options are either a full refund or your ticket will admit two. On behalf of everybody, please accept our apologies and we hope this show goes some way to a kiss and make up."

Tonight at Fibbers, the York Ghana Youth Exchange Benefit features Phluid, Konspiracy and Doghouse Roses. Organised by David Purcell, this benefit show involves York musicians raising money and profile alike for the charity.

Colour Of Fire, number six in the Track Records singles chart this week with Decisions Decisions, play on Sunday with support from The Fuss and The Glasshouse.

Tuesday's headliners, Minus, would send the Noise Abatement Society running for the hills. "A filthy bass-heavy rumble underpins these Icelandic hardcore legends-in-waiting with their violent screams, melodic breakdowns, and even some techno-derived sounds," says Tim.

"The press pack says they're a blend of Refused, Will Haven and Drowningman, but they're probably better described as extremely technical metalcore in the same vein as Luti-Kriss and Hydrahead. Crazy industrial stuff!" Support slots at this All Ages Show for 14 Plus go to RSJ and Nerve Harvest.

In Round One, Heat Eleven of the Fibbers/Evening Press Battle of the Bands 2003 on Wednesday, Syncrownized compete against Hardwired, Catylyst and Stara from 8pm. Admission is £3.
