THE Impalas made it a hat-trick of wins in the John Smith's Good Friday Pocklington Sevens at Percy Road where they beat Malton and Norton 24-12 in a well contested final.

The event drew another bumper bank holiday crowd, with 2,500 people cramming into Percy Road to bask in the sunshine and enjoy six and a half hours of non-stop, high-speed rugby.

The Impalas, based at York's Fulford Barracks, were always favourites, though they faced stiff opposition in their semi-final before subduing the East Yorkshire Jaguars, another side with a nucleus of Army Fijians.

In the other half of the draw, Malton edged out Old Pocklingtonians by just two points, then had close games against Ipswich and Isleworth.
