RESIDENTS in some of York's rural villages are to benefit from more buses.

North Yorkshire County council has boosted services in some parts of the county to help those in isolated areas.

Arriva Yorkshire will introduce an hourly service between Ripon, Boroughbridge and York and there will be improvements between York and Wetherby including a two-hourly service for Cattal and Hunsingore.

Harrogate and District will operate an enhanced timetable on routes 56 and 57, and will introduce a new two-hourly service between Arkendale and Knaresborough.

Improvements to service 23 will benefit residents in Markington, Shaw Mills and Bishop Thornton.

For Harrogate residents there will be improvements for residents of Crossways and Fairways.
