NOW'S you chance to shape the future of York City.

Fans are being asked to chose the next club badge from a shortlist of three.

The trio of choices are reproduced on this page and you can vote for the one the club should adopt.

The choices are:

Badge 1: Lion's head - the Partners' Group.

Badge 2: Y-front and white rose - Ben Millar

Badge 3: Y-front and five lions - Michael Elgie/Acute Marketing/Picture Drum.

City received a tremendous response to their request for fans and design agencies to submit ideas for City's new club badge.

More than 150 entries were received from professional consultants and supporters of all ages from York and beyond.

The diverse range of badge designs were recently reviewed by York City's newly formed marketing taskforce who narrowed the ideas down to the final three.

City's marketing and IT director, Mike Brown said: "The response to our search for a new club logo has been fantastic and entries have been of an extremely high standard.

"It was a difficult decision for the taskforce to determine the final three, but we felt each idea projected a different message and hope fans will vote for the design they feel is the strongest and is right for York City in this exciting new era for the club."

Votes for City's new club badge should be sent to: 'New Club Badge', York City Football Club, Bootham Crescent, York YO30 7AQ.

The deadline for voting is Wednesday, April 30.

The many designs that did not manage to make the final three will be transformed into a mural that will be mounted in the Social Club to enable fans to see the whole range of ideas the club received.

Star guests

PAST, present and future were all being hailed at Bootham Crescent this afternoon.

While the current City team were being cheered to the rafters in their promotion v relegation battle with Exeter, Norman Wilkinson, Gordon Brown and Alf Patrick were special guests of the club.

Brown and Wilkinson were, of course, members of the City team that reached the FA Cup semi-finals in 1955 while Patrick lies fourth in City's esteemed list of goal-scorers.

Also being introduced to the crowd at today's match were next season's crop of trainees, the next generation of City stars.

The new intake include Arran Reid, a goalkeeper from York, right-back Nathan Kamara, also from York, central midfielder Byron Webster, from Sherburn-in-Elmet, striker Robbie Haw, from Beverley, fellow striker Steve Lyons from Selby and Andrew Green, a left-back from Darlington.

Best bar none

THE Yorkie Bars secured what the professionals couldn't at Lincoln last week -- a comfortable win.

Prior to the Minstermen's 1-0 defeat to the Imps, the Bars, made up of City supporters brought together by the Internet, took on their Lincoln counterparts and won 6-1.

Peter George and Michael Stockdale ensured a 2-1 half-time lead for the Bars, who added to their tally after the break thanks to a Dave Ward brace, another Stockdale strike and an own-goal.

Captain Brass leads from the front

SKIPPER Chris Brass is the Evening Press player of the year.

The City captain's man of the match display against Kidderminster on Easter Monday was enough to secure the prestigious award, won for the last two years by former goalkeeper Alan Fettis.

Runner-up Chris Smith had threatened to take the race for the crown down to the wire after picking up two points in the 1-0 defeat at Lincoln last Saturday.

However, Monday's three point haul means even with two games still to go Brass, odds on to also lift the clubman of the year award, cannot be caught.

Monday's remaining available points were dished out to Gary Hobson (2) and the returning Michael Ingham (1).

Even at this late stage in the campaign, the leader board has a new addition with on-loan goalkeeper Phil Whitehead earning the man of the match award and three points at Lincoln prior to his return to Reading.

With Smith picking up two points, the one remaining point at Sincil Bank went to Tom Cowan.

Latest standings: Brass 44 points, Smith 35, Parkin 24, Duffield 22, Fettis 22, Nogan 21, Edmondson 16, Cook 13, Cowan 12, Cooper 11, Bullock 10, Ingham 9, Fox 7, Potter 6, Reddy 6, Beresford 5, Brackstone 5, Hobson 5, Jones 4, Whitehead 3, Wise 3, Shandran 2, Graydon 1

Rookes move

on to board

CITY fan Peter Rookes was this week co-opted on the board of the Supporters' Trust.

Rookes has been heavily involved in the Trust's work since October and has made a significant contribution towards the Trust's ultimately successful rescue package, in particular in relation to financial matters.

The Board now comprises 12 members, including Richard Snowball (chairman), Michael Shannon, Steve Beck, Sophie McGill, Terry Herbert (treasurer), Paul Rawnsley, Peter Rookes, Mike Brown, Kirsten Gillies, Graham Kilby, John Catton and Ian Hey.

Stan Collins continues as Trust secretary.

A number of Trust board positions will be up for election ahead of the next AGM, expected to take place towards the end of the year.

All trust members will have the opportunity to stand for election.

Dodsworth's

generation game

A NEW love for the Minstermen hit the road at Lincoln City, where there were three generations of Dodsworth on view.

John Dodsworth, owner of Dodsworth Coaches who have ferried the Minstermen to all points of the British compass for the past 18 years, was driving the team bus. His son Jonathan was at the helm of one of the supporters' buses and accompanying him and his wife Jo to Sincil Bank was their 10-week-old son Jack.

All three J-men, however, will be hoping Jack will soon be witnessing a York triumph after the 1-0 loss at Lincoln ended a seven-match unbeaten run.

Mail Kirsten

SUPPORTERS with fundraising ideas or events in aid of the Trust and football club are being asked to send their proposals to a new e-mail address.

Any fan or organisation planning a money-making event or with cash-making suggestions are now being urged to send them to Trust board member Kirsten Gillies via the following e-mail address: kirsten.gillies@ycst.org.uk

Kirsten will collate all the ideas and suggestions before presenting them to the football club board.

Cut-price travel

THE York City Travel Club are offering fans the chance to join in what is hoped to be an end-of-season party at Oxford United for a reduced rate.

The Club has slashed the prices for those wanting to travel on the coaches to the game to just £10 for members and £14 for non-members, and they are hoping a big Minstermen following will travel down.

Bookings should be made at the club shop on 01904 624447 ext 4.
