For the second week running, I am without my Thursday Evening Press. I cannot get hold of my newsagent to ascertain why because his phone is constantly engaged, probably with other dissatisfied customers.

No doubt one could buy one in town at lunchtime or from my local supermarket, but it seems that Joe Public is always left out and his local newsagent left high and dry.

I do not get a morning paper but maybe I should. If a morning paper does not turn up, the newsagent can offer an alternative - no such luck with the Evening Press.

I prefer local news and to support my local paper but on occasions like this I wonder why I bother.

Editor's footnote:

We apologise to all our readers affected by the intermittent technical problems on our printing press which disrupted deliveries to some areas on Thursday night. We rang all our news outlets to explain the difficulties to them and are doing all we can to prevent the same thing happening again.
