PUPILS at an East Yorkshire primary school will be seeing in the summer with new outdoor play equipment - thanks to their local pub.

The Three Cups, in York Road, Stamford Bridge, appealed in the Evening Press last month for local organisations to come forward if they thought they could benefit from £2,000 worth of children's play equipment.

The inn received more than 40 calls, but after much deliberation they decided that the equipment, which had been based in its garden, belonged at Stamford Bridge Infant School.

Chris Jones, landlord of the Three Cups, decided to give the equipment away after the inn was extensively refurbished.

He said: "Although since the refurbishment we do still get families visiting the inn, it's more for the relaxed atmosphere and surroundings, than as a place for children to be entertained. And therefore the equipment is not being used as much as it was before.

"We thought there would be organisations in the local community that could make far better use of it and put it in an environment where more children would have access to it."

The equipment, which includes a set of swings and a roundabout, has now been re-painted and moved to the school for the pupils to enjoy.
