Wigginton Black Horse have sealed the Leeper Hare York and District League division one title after overcoming nearest rivals T&L Selby 2-1.

Wigginton had set themselves up for a nail-biting end to the season after losing in midweek at New Earswick which meant that they had to beat Selby to clinch the title.

They were given the ideal start when Selby defender Paul Tanton headed a right-wing cross into his own net. However, Steve Rowbottom equalised for T&L with a crisp volley from 20 yards.

Fortunately for Black Horse, that was the only worthwhile shot Selby could muster and after a period of sustained pressure at the other end Chris McPhee met a left-wing cross with a diving header to net the winner.

T&L will have the consolation of second place after Post Office dropped two points at Haxby & Wigginton with a 3-3 draw.

They took the lead with a penalty but fell behind by half-time to strikes by Rich Iggulden and Rich Hunt.

Hunt increased the home side's lead after the break when he scored a direct free-kick but the Postmen fought back to level.

South Bank ended their season on a winning note when two goals from James Hewitson and one from Shaun Turner helped them to a 3-2 win over New Earswick. Jamie Elcock and Jonathan Smith netted for the visitors.

Barmby Moor lost any chance of finishing in a promotion place in division two after they were thumped 6-0 at home by Easingwold, who needed the points to ensure they stay clear of relegation.

Selby RSSC clinched promotion from division three with a midweek 3-2 win against long standing leaders Moor Lane and Darren Crossland netted the only goal of the game as they then entertained Sheriff Hutton.

Rawcliffe Rangers grabbed a point with a last-minute equaliser at Hemingbrough to ensure they did not finish bottom of the division.

After a blank first half, Ian Robinson put Rangers in front with a solo effort but the home side netted twice in two minutes. They looked to be on their way to a win before defender Rob Sharpley let fly in the last minute with a 30-yard shot which went in off the bar.

Matty Biggins was another player to hit a last-minute goal and it won the game for Amotherby, who were entertaining Wheldrake.

Phil Thistleton opened Amotherby's account and Nick Robinson added another. The visitors then pulled two back to level and looked like taking a point until Biggins produced the goods.

Paul Broadbent struck twice and Alex Brandon added another to give Bishopthorpe a 3-2 win against New Earswick in Reserve 'A'.

Kartiers wrapped up their season with a 2-0 home win over Pocklington, Andy Woodall and Paul Taylor were their marksmen.

Thorpe United clinched the Reserve 'C' title without kicking a ball after Hemingbrough, the only team that could overtake them, were held to a 3-3 draw by Hamilton Panthers. Neil Hartley netted twice and Mark Moore the third for Panthers.
