STRENSALL'S Robert Wilkinson 'A' swept to the annual Haxby Netball Club Junior school netball tournament.

They won a maximum 15 points from their five games, scoring 35 goals, conceding just 11.

Runners-up were Ralph Butterfield (Haxby) with Headlands (Wigginton) third, Skelton fourth, Wigginton fifth and Robert Wilkinson 'B' sixth.

Robert Wilkinson 'A''s players were awarded individual trophies and a shield to be kept in their school for a year.

All girls who took part received a certificate.

The Haxby club has hosted the tournament for the last 19 years and many of the players have gone on to play for Haxby or other clubs in the York and District Netball League. This year's competition was organised by Haxby member Carole Starr.

Second round ties in the York Schools Under-12 and Under-14 Cricket Cup competitions are be in played tomorrow. The fixtures are:

U12 Cup Rd 2: All Saints or Fulford v Read, Drax or Tadcaster; Joseph Rowntree v Oaklands or Burnholme, Manor or Canon Lee v Archbishop's or Huntington; Sherburn or Millthorpe v Bootham.

U14 Cup Rd 2: Bootham v Sherburn, Fulford or All Saints v Joseph Rowntree or Huntington, Manor or Read, Drax v Canon Lee or Oaklands; Archbishop's or Tadcaster v Burnholme or Millthorpe.

The next league fixtures will be played on Thursday, June 19.

U13 Group A: Minster v Millthorpe, Barlby v Manor, Bootham v Sherburn, Joseph Rowntree v Tadcaster.

U15 Group A: Tadcaster v Joseph Rowntree, Sherburn v Bootham, Manor v Barlby, Millthorpe has a free week.

U13 Group B: All Saints v Fulford, Oaklands v Archbishop's, Burnholme v Lowfield, Huntington has a free week.

U15 Group B: Archbishop's v Oaklands, Fulford v All Saints, Huntington and Burnholme both have a free week.

All results of cricket matches should be sent in immediately after a match to Rob Graham, Bootham School, Bootham, York, YO30 7BU, so that they can be published in the School Sport column and league tables can be printed.

State Schools Tennis League fixtures for next week, starting Monday, June 16, are:

Girls: Sherburn v Huntington, All Saints v Tadcaster, Millthorpe v Joseph Rowntree, Manor v Fulford.

Boys: Huntington v Sherburn, Tadcaster v All Saints, Joseph Rowntree v Millthorpe, Fulford v Manor.

Matches must be completed by Friday, June 27, and results sent to Wayne Isherwood at Sherburn High School.

Teams in the British Schools' Tennis League should complete their fixtures by Friday, June 13 and send results to Miss E Hooley, at Bootham School, Bootham, York YO30 7BU.

St Aelred's collection of silverware

TEAMS from St Aelred's School have had a memorable season. The boys football team were Primary League 'H' champions and won the Catenian Shield. The girls' netball team were also crowned Catenian netball champions and won every game during the season in which they won the York Mini-schools rally and the inaugural York Junior Netball Championship Cup.
