A YORK school is soon to celebrate 100 years not out - and wants help from the public to plan its party.

Haxby Road School will be one hundred years old in 2004, and governors and staff are already starting to put together ideas for celebration events.

But members of the public are also being encouraged to come up with their own ideas.

Chairman of governors, Paul Wordsworth said: "The school's hundredth birthday is a cause for great celebration. "We want to mark the occasion with events and activities that recall the past hundred years and also to look ahead to an exciting future.

"We are keen to hear from people who went to the school or had family members who went there, those who have worked there, and anyone who has any interesting memories, stories or photographs connected with the school."
