NORTH Yorkshire RL Service Area Under-13s made it three wins from their five fixtures with a 20-6 triumph at South Yorkshire to finish the round-robin competition on a high.

The hosts started the stronger and notched a converted try within five minutes, but North Yorkshire then began to settle down and find some rhythm. They still found the home defence hard to break down until James Millward scooted from the play-the-ball and crossed for an opportunist's try.

Chances were few at either end before North Yorkshire gained the upper hand when Adam Jones raced 80 metres to score, making it 8-6 at half-time.

The visitors played the second half up the hill and into the sunshine, but this never altered their approach and when Steve Doswell latched onto a well-timed pass he raced over to give the visitors a deserved 6-12 advantage.

The game was still in the balance but with Oliver Harrison, Jones, Millward, Jamie Broadmore, Dave Leeke, Jack Hakins and Dan Lofthouse producing excellent displays, North Yorkshire broke the hosts' resolve when man of the match Leeke took the ball out of his own 20 metre zone from a penalty and broke through to race home.

The hosts began to lose their composure and this allowed North Yorkshire to play some excellent open rugby which resulted in Jones rounding thing off with for his second try.

North Yorkshire Service Area U12's finished their five-match sequence with a solid 18-4 win at South Yorkshire. Tries from Ryan Prew (2) Jack Johnson and Joe Lancaster helped the young team end their campaign with a record of won three, lost two. Luke Watling was man of the match.
