UNBEATEN Escrick have shot to the top of division ten of the IT Sports York and District Mixed Tennis League after two big recent wins.

They thumped Wilberfoss 79-29 then slaughtered Wistow 91-17 with Steve Smowton and Isobel Harrison amassing 31 games, Keith Bickerdike and Ruby Gourlay 20 and Keith Brown and Denise Neary 30.

Tollerton moved in to third place on games difference after winning 65-43 at Wilberfoss where Stephen Yorston and Jean Thompson won 30 games.

Wins over Tadcaster and Fulford took York back to the top of division one.

Civil Service suffered their first loss and slipped to second place after going down 68-40 at Fulford whose Neil Haw and Julie Reilly were top scorers.

Poppleton I beat their second team with Michael Binns and Belinda Turnbull leading the way.

York are also top of division two after winning 56-52 at Sutton on Derwent, the second round 10-2 victory of Paul Whurr and Claire Taylor provising vital.

Whurr also top-scored in the 63-45 win at Stillington, this time being partnered by Kate Rorrison.

Rowntree Park moved out of the relegation area win a 63-45 win over Sutton on Derwent, Kevin Davison and Cheryl Broom head being unbeaten.

The clash of unbeaten Castlegath and Wheldrake in division three went the way of Wheldrake who took top spot as a result.

Mark Bland and Helen Roe just outscored Dave Parrish and Lynette Duggleby as Wheldrake won 58-50.

Selby closed the gap on division four leaders Fulford by ending Wilberfoss's unbeaten record. Chris and Lucy Godwin top scored in the 58-50 victory.

Selby then proved too strong for Strensall, Robert Jackson and Debbie Godwin winning 27 games in a 77-31 victory.

Riccall moved off the foot of the table win a couple of wins. Rex Pocklington and Jen Alstead were unbeaten as they defeated Poppleton 59-59 and then Mark Harris and Sue Warren were to the fore as Wigginton were beaten 71-37.

Civil Service's unbeaten run in division six came to an end against Wistow, whose Neil Richardson and Jill Marsden amassed 34 games in a 72-36 victory.

Wistow then beat Fulford 63-45 and head the table but face unbeaten Sutton on Derwent tonight in a crunch encounter. Sutton defeated Fulford 60-48 led by the unbeaten Dave Nowell and Sally Simpson.

Tadcaster won 67-41 at division eight's leading club, Wilberfoss, then beat Bubwith 68-40, Richard Middleton and Debbie Rutrherford top-scoring in both matches.

Next Generation have taken the lead at the top of division 11 after their 81-27 win against Appleton Roebuck, Reza and Chantal Lancaster winning 30 games.

Heworth are one of three clubs tucked in behind the leaders and enjoyed big wins against New Earswick and Anne Gray, Loch Trimingham and Anne Gray leading the way.

Keith Westmoreland and Sally Cammage won 31 games for Stamford Bridge in the 82-26 win over Alne.
