SISTERS Eilidh and Mairi Macdonald topped York City Baths Club's medal tally at the Graded Continuum Grand Prix at Harrogate with two golds each.

Eilidh won the breaststroke in the 15 years and over 50 metres and 100m events with a bronze in the 200m freestyle.

Mairi, struck gold in the 50m and 200m backstroke.

York swimmers gained eight speeding tickets, seven gold, three silver and seven bronze medals and set 114 personal best times.

Gareth Thomas collected a complete set in 12 years races with gold in the 200m freestyle, silver in the 200m butterfly and bronze in the 50m backstroke.

William Peeke-Vout won the 13 years 100m backstroke and nine-year-old Anna Atkinson-Smith was victorious in the 200m backstroke.

Alex Fowler, 11, picked up a silver in the 200m backstroke and a bronze in the 200m freestyle.

Laura Cuttill took silver in the 15 years 200m backstroke.

Selby Tiger Sharks won five gold, eight silver and three bronze medals at the SportsAid Designated Open Meet at Leeds International Pool.

Having recently swum two seconds inside the qualifying time for the British Age Group and Youth Championships, 16-year-old Danny Martland underscored his current dominance over the distance with an emphatic victory in the 200m backstroke.

The reigning Yorkshire champion at 100m and 200m backstroke left the rest of the field trailing 15m in his wake on his way to an eight-second long-course personal best.

He then clinched another national championship place, just nipping under the qualifying time with a crushing eight-metre winning margin in the 100m backstroke.

A clean-sweep in the girls' 100m backstroke race was only slightly blemished as Sarah Lambert, found the competition insufficient to push her to a qualifying time for the ASA Long-Course Championships in her favourite event.

Second place in the same race, and gold in a hard-fought 14/15 years age group went to Selby's Stacey Flanagan on her way to a four-medal haul with silvers from the 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m butterfly.

Just touched out for the gold was Flanagan's club-mate, Kirsten Walsh, who, by her own high standards, has been going through a relatively fallow period in recent months, so her silver and fourth place in the 200m freestyle hints at a return to form.

Thirteen-year-old Fay Horton, headed three City of Leeds swimmers in their own pool, romping home to take gold in the 50m breaststroke to add to silvers in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

Alex Moore, also 13, found the Leeds water to his liking, with five medals around his neck -- silver from the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, and bronze from the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle.
