Dunnington beat Rowntree Park 68-40 in division one of the Tyke Petroleum Men's League. Dunnington finished the stronger, allowing Rowntree Park only ten of the last 36 games.

Wigginton's title chances evaporated with their heavy 72-36 defeat by Wheldrake, for whom George Tattersall and perpetual motion Dave Parish scored 26 unbeaten. Oliver Gardener and Tony Howat won Wigginton's only set.

Riccall needed one game more in the last rubber to earn a point against Bubwith, but failed.

Riccall lost only two sets but Ian Driffill and Cliff Harrison's 25 total was decisive.

Strensall struggled to stay top of division two beating Civil Service 57-51. At 42-30 up, Strensall looked home and dry, but they went six down in the final rubber.

York maintained promotion hopes with a 67-41 result against Appleton Roebuck, thanks to 25 games from John Logan and Pete Sutherland. Copmanthorpe beat Boston Spa for the second time, but by only two games, led by Graeme Butcher and Dave Schofield's 25.

Poppleton II's defeat by Wigginton II 45-63 closed up the promotion battle in division three, where Ken Storey (pictured left) and Andy Walker's unbeaten 26 brought Wigginton well back.

York II's defeat by Castlegarth II and a predictably tight 58-50 win against Knaresborough II left three teams fighting to avoid the one relegation place left.

Wheldrake II went top of division five after a 67-41 win against Fulford. Dave Fenton and Bryn Jones scored 26, while Richard Ekers with Mark Cross replied with 20.

Dunnington III are in second place in division six after a 68-40 win at Next Generation. The home team had to concede 35 games due to an administrative breakdown, but their two pairs did well to score 39. Civil Service II scored 73 against New Earswick II.
