Wistow have won the first promotion place in division six of the IT Sports Mixed League after wins against New Earswick and Dunnington.

Neil Richardson and Jill Marsden led Wistow to promotion winning 28 games at Dunnington with Stephen and Janet Falkingham top-scoring against New Earswick.

Sutton-on-Derwent need only one more point to gain promotion for the fourth year in succession after their win at Poppleton led by the consistent Dave Nowell and Sally Simpson.

Steve Smith and Wendy Stirke led York to two more wins to edge closer to the division one title after beating Civil Service and also Wigginton.

Dunnington stay second after their win at Tadcaster, but are joined on 14 points by Poppleton who had a close win at Fulford with John Moore and Belinda Turnbull winning 29 games.

Riccall are the new leaders of division four after completing the double over Copmanthorpe with Mark Harris and Judith Bray winning all rubbers for Riccall.

They took over from Fulford who were big winners at Strensall for whom Richard Pears and Evelyn Atkinson won 30 games.

Five teams are still in the division five promotion frame with Appleton Roebuck led to victory by Graham Scattergood and Judy Marriott against Riccall to stay second.

Stillington lost 57-51 to Heworth for whom Ron Barnett and Lucy Collier were unbeaten, while Cliffe toppled hosts Sutton-on-Derwent. This week's matches see the top four matched against each other.

Cawood have won one of the promotion places in division nine with wins at Selby and then at rivals Fulford where Richard and Carolynne Taylor won 31 games.

Thirteen-year-old Georgina Brown, playing her first match for Escrick along with partner Mel Neary, helped her side to the points against promotion rivals Civil Service in division ten.
