A GROUP of youngsters are giving up their school holidays to give a York charity shop a make-over.
They are spending four weeks stripping down the interior of the Multiple Sclerosis charity shop, in Melrosegate, Tang Hall.
The project is part of the Millennium Volunteers Programme which involves youngsters taking part in community schemes.
There are two other projects in York, one to create a wildlife garden for adults with learning disabilities and another to design an outreach programme for the National Railway Museum.
Jacqui Tesselment, York MV programme manager, said: "York MV summer projects offer young people aged 16 to 24 the real-life experience of working in a team, with a fixed budget and time frame to deliver something of lasting value to their community."
