A CORRESPONDENT wrote to the Evening Press about the removal of York paving and its replacement with Tarmac along with the removal of ornate lamp posts from many areas in York.
Some companies make a living out of the resale of these kind of items as part of our architectural heritage.
If companies resell these then is it not more economical for the council just to refurbish on site rather than replace it with something less in keeping with the historical backdrop of the city?
Secondly, what happens to all these items once they are removed?
What revenue does the council get back for the taxpayers?
Why doesn't the council offer these for sale by tender?
